Ford Fiesta SportingTrophy
An excellent learning and recruitment ground for upcoming racing talent
Launched in 2006, the Ford Fiesta Sporting Trophy (FFST) quickly spread to include FFST competitions in more than ten countries. Apart from promoting the Ford Fiesta car, the unique formula lowers the threshold to the rallying world for upcoming racing talent. In the FFST, both young ambitious drivers and more experienced crews compete with equal gear: an affordable Ford Fiesta car, equipped with a rally kit developed by Malcolm Wilson’s M-Sport (UK).
Educating and coaching
More than letting fresh talent compete on the roads, FFST is also about education and guidance. In Belgium, FFST teams participate in the RS Academy to sharpen their driving performance and technical, physical and mental skills. They are coached by top-class instructors like Ingrid Berghmans (former Olympic and World Judo Champion) and Timothy Van Parijs (an experienced rally driver). FFST’s educational commitment is one of the main reasons why Ansell supports the Belgian FFST initiative.
International Shootout Champion
That FFST’s approach bears fruit, has been proven recently by the success of the young Matthias Boon. An FFST pupil, the 19-year-old was crowned the 2008 FST International Shootout Champion after beating 17 other finalists at a selection event in the UK. Boon won one year's work experience and training at M-Sport with the BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team. In 2009, he and nice other FFST drivers are competing in five Belgian rally championships: TACTielt, Rallye deWallonia, Belgium Ypres Rally and the "Omloop van Vlaanderen" and Condrozrallies. With a rally car bearing the Ansell logo. |
