Enhanced cut resistance, warmth and comfort in five new gloves

25 October 2013, Brussels, Belgium – Ansell, a global leader in protection solutions, announces new additions to its VersaTouch® product range dedicated to the Food Processing Industry. Featuring Polar Bear™ Cut Resistance Technology, the new VersaTouch® 74-718 glove is a true breakthrough in cut protection. It incorporates EN Level 5 cut resistance in a soft and comfortable glove able to keep hands dry and warm. The VersaTouch® 78-102, 78-103, 78-202, 78-203 deliver EN 511 level 010 (contact cold protection) for environments as low as -10 degrees C; they are warmer than any previous Ansell or Comasec gloves of this kind.

Cut injuries are a too-common occurrence in food manufacturing and processing, so superior protective apparel is a must. “The new VersaTouch® 74-718 cut resistant gloves raise the standard in worker safety and comfort for the Food Processing Industry” says Peter Dobbelsteijn, Senior Vice President and Regional Director for the Ansell EMEA region.

Ansell Polar Bear Cut Resistance Technology combines advanced materials with proprietary Ansell spinning and knitting methods to deliver very high cut protection without sacrificing comfort. The new VersaTouch cut resistant 74-718® gloves integrate ZONZ™ Comfort Fit Technology zonal plating along with Dyneema® Diamond Technology to the areas of the hand most likely to be exposed to cut injury risks. Ansell’s patented Knitted Variable Stich Design (KVSD) helps reduce hand fatigue by closely embracing the shape of frequently flexed areas in the hand and knuckles. Its engineered yarn wicks away perspiration from the glove lining, keeping hands dry and warm and taking comfort to the next level.

Keeping hands safe and at comfortable temperature is a must in food production plants, where average temperatures range between 0°C and 8°C. The VersaTouch Knitted Thermal Insulated gloves (78-102, 78-103, 78-202, 78-203) deliver EN 511 level 010 protection for environments as cold as -10°C. Ansell improved existing gloves’ insulating power by incorporating high-performance thermal acrylic fibers into a newly engineering yarn.

The gloves’ seamless construction offers outstanding dexterity and flexibility. The ambidextrous VersaTouch Knitted Thermal Insulated gloves 78-102 and 78-103 are soft and lightweight and can easily be used under cut- or liquid-protection gloves without compromising worker comfort. Whenever additional palm and finger grip is required (e.g. for secure handling of frozen products), the 78-202 and 78-203 with PVC micro dots will be the preferred option. For greater convenience, they are available in single pack (78-102 and 78-202) and bulk packaging (78-103 and 78-203).

For more than 100 years, Ansell has been recognized for continually innovating and leading the hand protection and protective clothing industry with specialized solutions that meet the unique challenges faced by workers across sectors. Every Ansell product, including the VersaTouch brand, is backed by in-depth end user research to deliver expressly tailored solutions, without compromising productivity.

The Ansell VersaTouch line of hand protection provides best-in-class solutions for workers across a wide range of food related segments and applications including food processing, agriculture and food services. The line features high-performance reusable gloves for managing cut and thermal risks, submersible gloves for working in liquid environments, and versatile single-use gloves for wet and dry applications. The VersaTouch range meets EU Directives and country-specific standards for food contact.
