Touch N Tuff®'s pole position in chemical resistance reconfirmed in several independent tests
Brussels, 7 October 2008 - A world leader in barrier protection solutions, Ansell has again broadened its portfolio of industrial gloves. Newcomer is a long-cuff version of the single-use Touch N Tuff® nitrile glove. Chemical tests by an independent agency have demonstrated that the Touch N Tuff® offers superior protection against chemical substances. With its longer cuffs, the new Touch N Tuff® 92-605 will further increase levels of protection, thereby helping European companies step up their safety efforts.
According to the EU OSHA, 16% of European workers handle hazardous products. The hazards associated with chemical exposure, which is a common threat in many industries, are multiple, ranging from skin problems like allergies and dermatitis thru' to cancer, brain damage, asthma or an adverse impact on fertility. To raise protection against these risks, the European Union is making its legislation ever tougher. A milestone step was the voting of the REACH regulations in 2007, which gives the industry greater responsibility to manage the risks from chemicals and to provide clear safety information. The additional information available to industry, results in many companies re-examining their safety procedures to better protect their workers. Selecting the right gloves is a major step in this process.
Top performer in chemical tests
That Ansell's single-use, nitrile Touch N Tuff® glove is a good choice to protect against chemical splashes, has been proven in several trials by Centexbel, a Belgian notified body. The tests measured the resistance of the Touch N Tuff® glove and eleven of its competitors to chemical permeation from ten key chemicals in the principal chemical families. Earlier findings by Centexbel have been confirmed: no other single-use nitrile glove resists a greater variety of industrial chemicals for a longer period than the Touch N Tuff®.
Excellent puncture and abrasion resistance
Other strengths of the Touch N Tuff® include its exceptional puncture resistance, which is three to four times higher than that of similar neoprene or Natural Rubber Latex (NRL) gloves. Manufactured from 100% nitrile, the glove further eliminates the risk of latex allergies (Type 1) and shows no evidence of risk from irritation or Type IV allergies. These merits are combined with superior abrasion resistance, strong grip, easy donning and latex-like comfort levels.
Long cuff for extra protection against chemical splashes
Always on the look-out to foster protection and raise comfort levels, Ansell has now added a long-cuff variant to the Touch N Tuff® range, for increased protection against chemical splashes and a better fit on work clothes. Both Touch N Tuff® gloves are recommended for use in a wide variety of industrial applications that involve a known risk of chemical splash, e.g. in pharmaceuticals or laboratories, chemical handling, automotive assembly (paint shops), printing and the graphics industry, etc.
