At Expoprotection, Ansell focuses on solutions for oil exposure

Ansell TouchNTuff® 93-250 disposable nitrile gloves now integrate Ansell Grip Technology

30 October 2014 – Paris, France – Ansell, a global leader in protective solutions, is launching a range of new single use and general purpose gloves at the Expoprotection trade fair, which opens in Paris (Porte de Versailles) on 4 November 2014. At its stand (Hall 1, stand N32), Ansell will showcase its latest oil protection solution, the new HyFlex® 11-926 which is the first light weight HyFlex style to combine a ¾ dip geometry, oil repellence and optimal grip in a single flexible glove. The new disposable TouchNTuff ®93-250 featuring the trend-setting Ansell Grip Technology provides enhanced grip in oily environments and high levels of flexibility. All new Ansell brand products integrate one or more Ansell Worker Experience Innovations featured at the Ansell stand. Many new products are being launched against the backdrop of a campaign launched to raise awareness of about the dangers of exposure to oil in the workplace.

The ‘Oil is a Chemical’ campaign aims to raise awareness of manufacturing industries about the health challenges resulting from daily exposure to oil and lubricants through bare hands or inadequate protective gloves (including gloves saturated with oil). Oil is a contributing factor in the development of occupational skin disease (allergies and dermatitis), and many oil additives are known carcinogens and can affect reproductive health when absorbed through the skin. These hazards are often overlooked when focusing on the grip and the performance required of hand protection. With a strong knowledge base of the chemical analysis of compositions of thousands of lubricants and oils carried out over the last 20 years, Ansell will provide advice, work place assessment surveys, checklists and seminars to help safety managers identify potential problems. Worker awareness materials will be available later in the campaign.

Because grip in disposable gloves was cited as a problem by 70% of workers surveyed by Ansell, the company introduced the new TouchNTuff 93-250 gloves to improve dry, wet and oily grip. For the first time, the excellent dexterity and flexibility typical of TouchNTuff gloves was combined with Ansell Grip™ Technology™. In tests, they were the only disposable gloves tested capable of gripping oily objects. Less grip force is needed to safely and confidently handle wet and greasy tools and materials, and tools requiring tactility and precision, such as compounding, fastening and assembly in manufacturing and laboratory operations. The glove’s nitrile formulation is 3 times more puncture resistant than disposable latex or polyvinylchloride gloves, and offers excellent splash resistance to a variety of chemicals for an extended period.

The oil-resistant, high grip HyFlex 11-926 is a knitted glove offering enhanced protection and performance in medium duty, oily applications. Protection from cuts and potentially toxic oil translates to peace of mind for workers; improved grip positively impacts productivity and extreme abrasion resistance lowers the frequency of glove replacement. HyFlex 11-926 is the first knitted glove to combine RIPEL™ Liquid Repellence Technology (that prevents oils or lubricants from making accidental skin contact) and Ansell Grip™ Technology for a secure grip in oily environments. Abrasion- resistant, it effectively replaces leather gloves when handling sharp metal components coated in oil or lubricant or assembling engine parts. HyFlex 11-926 is recommended for a wide range of applications in the automotive manufacturing, machinery, transportation, and metal fabrication industries. Unlike the foam layer of other dipped gloves, which may break through and allow oil to reach the skin, HyFlex 11-926’s RIPEL coating protects workers from irritation, allergy risk, and toxicity.
